In this role, you have the opportunity to

Play a key position for the growth of Philips Innovation Engineering as a Software Development engineer with experience with customized test equipment and industrial production equipment for the medical equipment domain.

As a Software Development engineer, you will work in a multi-disciplinary project team of highly skilled technical experts from both Philips Innovation Engineering and our customers.

You will participate in the design, implementation, testing and integrating of the machine control SW part for the test and production equipment in the healthcare domain.

Key aspects in complex mechatronic equipment are advanced motion control and accurate measurements. You will support the SW architect to accommodate these aspects.


You are responsible for

  • Participation in the preparation of the SW functional specification and in the development of technical content and concepts for complete customized test systems

  • Aligning of the SW concepts with the different disciplines, such as system architects, M-Design, vision, commissioning technicians. Interface management (electrical/mechanical/data handling)

  • Designs, codes, documents, tests (automated), maintains and deploys complex machine control software

  • Programming and implementation of machine control software, taking into account the line architecture as well as software-specific, functional and economic aspects.

  • Develop and align on standards for software, program modules, security concepts, control panels, etc.

  • Preparation of calculation and time planning for the area of SW commissioning and SW maintenance service

  • Identify and eliminate software design flaws during the integration phase and during the equipment life cycle

  • Carries out, independently and according to own judgement, SW integration and software commissioning activities for the integration of several parts of test equipment based on provided technical product documentation. 

  • SW support for improvement measures

  • Provides as technical expert third line SW maintenance support



You are a part of

The Mechatronics&Manufacturing Systems department of Philips Innovation Engineering that is responsible for specification, design and realization of customized test equipment and industrial production equipment for the healthcare domain. In this department is the group Mechatronics Electrical design, Control SW and Measurement responsible for the electrical and software control of this equipment.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor of Science or related technical degree in Software Engineering.

  • Typically, more than 3 years of experience in machine control SW development as well as commissioning and servicing the machine control software for new and installed-base test and industrial production equipment

  • Has profound knowledge of machine control software (especially Cordis Suite and PLC Beckhoff)

  • Experience with Labview and C# is recommended

  • Eager to learn and expand his knowledge with our custom made machine control platform

  • Knowledge of medical industry, including standards and regulatory requirements in Healthcare production equipment

  • Strong technical skills

  • Proficient in English

  • You are willing to travel up to 25%

  • Willingness to work at the customer location
