Your Challenge

Will you be strengthening our teams with your in-depth Software Design skills and experience, making a substantial contribution to the innovation of our mechatronics software solutions for high-end medical X-ray Systems? We are looking for a developer who brings AI-driven development practices, from advanced GitHub Copilot usage to AI Agent Design for automation, into everyday work within our Positioning Software department.

Your Responsibilities

As an AI-Enhanced Software Design Engineer, you will be a key contributor to our software development lifecycle, ensuring our systems are reliable, efficient, and meet rigorous medical standards.

  • Design & Implementation: Design and implement software at the component or module level. You'll assess and communicate the consequences of your design on the overall architecture and influence design specifications.

  • Quality Assurance: Design software based on specifications, ensuring it is reliable, efficient, user-friendly, easy to maintain, and meets all medical quality and coding standards.

  • Testing: Implement class, unit integration, and unit tests for designed modules or components.

  • Process Adherence: Perform work in-line with department processes and actively contribute to the unit interfaces (SW) in close consultation with relevant disciplines.

  • Continuous Improvement: Initiate and actively participate in continuous improvement efforts and the Scrum process.

The Impact You'll Make

Our challenge is to make the world healthier through innovation. We provide the best portfolio of image-guided therapy systems to support minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment for critical conditions, including cardiovascular, oncological, and neurological treatment. You will touch patients' lives when it matters most, helping physicians perform treatment in the most reliable, effective, and sustainable way.

You Are a Part Of

You will join the Business Unit IGT Systems, responsible for the development, manufacturing, and services of solutions in the area of cardiac and vascular medical diagnosis and intervention. Our customers are interventional specialists globally. You will be part of a high-performance and culturally diverse department of 35-40 highly educated software engineers responsible for developing the robotic subsystems of our interventional X-ray systems.

To Succeed in this Role, You Should Have

This role requires a blend of deep C++ experience, a commitment to quality, and a proactive mindset toward adopting cutting-edge AI development tools.

  • Core Technical Expertise:

    • 8+ years of experience in C++ (C++11 or higher) software design for real-time, performance-critical systems.

    • A passion for tackling large, complex codebases (both new and legacy), continuously improving and extending existing functionality.

  • AI Development Practices:

    • Proven experience in AI-assisted development practices, such as leveraging GitHub Copilot (Agent Mode) or designing AI Agents to accelerate development workflows.

  • Quality & Process:

    • A strong commitment to code quality, demonstrated through unit testing, peer reviews, continuous integration, and clean coding principles.

    • A critical and quality-driven approach to software design—questioning assumptions, validating results, and ensuring robustness.

  • Collaboration & Initiative:

    • A collaborative mindset, working closely with fellow developers and multidisciplinary Agile teams through pair programming and cross-team engagement.

    • The initiative to actively engage with stakeholders to clarify needs, gather insights, and translate them into actionable software improvements.

    • A positive, solution-oriented attitude, contributing constructively to discussions.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience developing in a mechatronics environment, integrating software with complex hardware systems.

  • Familiarity with regulated industries (e.g., medical, automotive, aerospace) where safety, compliance, and documentation are essential.
