System Engineer



We are looking for a Systems Engineer in our Grooming & Beauty business.

In this role, you have the opportunity to develop new innovations for Philips Lumea, a range of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices for long-term hair removal: https://youtu.be/tn7SQ5j8UJw.

This successful product strengthens the reputation of Philips in the consumer product area. The product is subject to medical regulations and its functioning is fully dependent on the electronics that deliver sufficient power to the lamp and ensure effective and safe usage of the device.


To succeed in the role of Systems Engineer, you need:

  • A Master's degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Physics or (Bio)Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • At least 5 years of experience in a lead engineer role, managing complexity across involving multiple domains

  • Bringing products successfully to the market making use of systems engineering tools & methodology (V-model, FMEA, RMM, etc.)

  • Sound knowledge of and experience with modeling / simulation methods & tools (preferably experience with CREO, Ansys, Matlab, Cameo)

  • Solid experience with medical consumer product development or experiences in other strongly regulated industries.

  • Strong experience with requirements management tools (preferably DOORS)

  • The capability to translate user and business requirements into product requirements and high level product design and to check and optimize integration and verification

  • Experience with root-cause analysis of production problems and consumer complaints

  • A strong quality mindset: you don't accept underperformance or poor results

  • Abstract, analytical and creative thinking skills

  • Excellent communication skills (English)

  • Motivation skills and persuasiveness

  • Good collaboration skills, since you will be working with many disciplines and people from various companies across the world

  • Design for Six Sigma: being trained and having applied the approach to produce robust designs (at least green belt)


Location is Eindhoven on the High Tech Campus, however, frequent visits to the site in Drachten or travels to abroad locations might be necessary!
