As Senior Systems engineer you will: Support the development of MBSE content in R&D projects across the business. Manage the system engineering information and its traceability (requirements, risks, design decisions, protocols, results) in the model-based system environment of the business. Create adequate requirements and designs for solutions, products, services and testers. Deploy best practices for MBSE globally in Philips to R&D project teams or organizations via training & coaching to enhance maturity. Identify improvement opportunities in Philips businesses with respect to the MBSE proposition and develop actionable proposals, plans and tailored training materials or workshops to address these. Manage your activities and services according to good project management practices. Coordinate small teams of system (MBSE) engineers if applicable.


Your team
The main location of Engineering Solutions is located on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (the Netherlands). Other locations are in Aachen (Germany), Cambridge (USA) and Pune/Bangalore (India).You will be part of a team with over 1000 technology experts, designers, project managers and consultants who have decades of experience in supporting customers both inside and outside Philips - from major companies in markets such as semiconductor industry and healthcare to highly innovative start-ups. The Reliability Solutions department within Philips Engineering Solutions is a dynamic team of well over 150 engineers and consultants divided in 4 competence groups in the field of Electronic Design Services (EDS), Test and Verification Engineering (TVE), Product Quality and Reliability Services (PQRS) and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).Your group Model Based System Engineering consist of about 30+ highly skilled technical professionals. Your customers are both internal Philips businesses as well as external companies.


We are looking for

  • PhD or Masters (MSc) degree in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or System Engineering. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a business R&D environment, preferable as (MBSE) system architect / requirement engineer.
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment or a medical device company has a strong preference. 
  • In-depth knowledge and a proven track record in implementing and applying concepts in the fields system- and requirement engineering. 
  • Analytical and architectural thinking, system view, physical insight, flexibility and a hands-on mentality to deliver sustainable results and creative solutions. 
  • Excellent reporting and documentation skills. 
  • Experience with working with requirements, test management or model bases system engineering tools, e.g. DOORS, ALM, PTC RV&S, Polarion, 
  • Excellent consultancy skills and the ability to connect with project and business stakeholders. 
  • Good project management skills.

As Senior Systems engineer you are responsible for the process, method and tools in the context of model-based system engineering (MBSE) within projects of the Philips businesses globally. These projects can cover every phase of the product life cycle, from development, manufacturing, market deployment, operation and maintenance to phase out. You will also help to deploy capabilities throughout the global company by providing training and coaching to system engineers and system architects. You will be involved in all system engineering aspects of the Philips V-model, starting with conceptualization, writing requirements, functional and technical design, check & optimize, verification, integration and finally the validation. In your role, you will support system architects and engineers to integrally manage all system engineering aspects in a model-based way supported by the appropriate tools. You will maintain and develop knowledge and expertise resulting in state-of-the-art approaches to serve our customers.
