Senior Development Engineer MEMS (Contract)

Location: High Tech Campus Eindhoven

Duration: 12 months (with possible extension and/or Philips transfer)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Be part of the innovative MEMS facility of Philips. Here you serve a large number of customers, ranging from institutes and start-ups to large enterprises. We combine the flexibility of a research lab with the rigour of a foundry. For medical applications, process development and manufacturing operate under ISO1385.

You will be responsible for:

  • Is responsible for development in a structured and methodologically sound way of processes and process flows inside his field of expertise / competence, mostly within the context of a project. 

    • Participates in projects or leads projects, realising the agreed technical and non-technical deliverables; 

    • Either contributes to or makes relevant technological choices during the different stages of a projects responsible, as a project leader, for securing the progress of a project in all its metrics and deliverables and for controlling risks; 

    • Gives direction to colleagues also from other areas of expertise. 

  • You manage project budget  and signal opportunities to realise industrial opportunities and projects based on the available expertise, competences and his own customer network. 

  • Initiates independently project proposals in agreement with all relevant stakeholders. Continually develops his/her technological knowledge and expertise within his field, both broadly and in depth.

  • Acquires assignments for 1-5 FTs per year. Sees trends in his technological domain and makes use of it in his/her activities. Judges the possibilities of reusing existing knowledge and the needs for new developments in the discipline and initiates and leads competence development projects. 

  • Coaches junior/medior development engineers

  • Pro-actively communicates with all stakeholders, including clients,   senior management, professional network and colleagues.

  • Complies with the ESH policy, rules and regulations.

  • Develops (parts and elements of) products, systems and/or solutions according to the V-model that serve user and business requirements amongst others by applying internal and external research results and technology advancements while taking care of the total system as well as inner workings of a design.: 


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • You have been educated in Engineering and have gained a torough understanding of MEMS technology. Preferably a Master or PhD degree in relevant fields, such as Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical Engineering.  

  • You have gained a great share of Industrial experience (+10 years) in MEMS technology, process development related to for example thin films or membrane production 

  • You have worked with teams and lead/guided them in the right direction and through the projects
