Process Development Engineer MEMS (Contract)

Location: Best or Remote is also a possibility 

Duration Assignment: 12 months (with possible extension)

Contract: Permanent at a Randstad company

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Make life better!

In this role, you will work on the development of new thin film processes for manufacturing MEMS components. Integral process flows are developed from initial prototyping to process qualification for volume production. The work comprises initial process flow definition, running the process in our wafer fab, and experimental validation of the results. Next to this, you will support in deploying activities in supporting areas such as metrology and mask design.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Key areas of responsibility.

  • Participating in project teams realizing the agreed technical and non-technical deliverables.

  • Definition and execution of new manufacturing flows in the wafer fab.

  • Development of processes and process integration flows for MEMS and thin-film devices in a structured, phase gated approach.

  • Running risk mitigation and problem-solving initiatives to resolve technical issues using a structured approach (e.g. using 8D, FMEA methods).

  • Generating, analyzing, and reporting of test data, like Process Control Module (PCM) data and functional test results.

  • Knowledge transfer through technical reports and presentations. Continually developing your technological knowledge and expertise within the field of process integration.

  • Active engagement in internal improvement programs. Initiating small project proposals and leading small projects.


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

You will need a customer-first attitude and the following 

  • MSc degree in Physics, Chemistry, or related field. 

  • Manufacturing knowledge in the field of MEMS, thin-film or semiconductor processing. 

  • Experience with working in a cleanroom. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Fluent communication skills in English and/or Dutch. 

  • Experience working in project teams in relevant technical domains.

  • Have a pragmatic, creative, flexible attitude with a result driven, can-do mentality

Our Process Development and Integration team develops micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), manufacturing processes for customer products, bringing them from early stage proto-typing towards release for volume manufacturing. The team consists of highly motivated and skilled Process Development Engineers, Technical Project Leaders, and Process Architects. Our customers are both inside and outside Philips, ranging from major companies and institutes to highly innovative start-ups.The Process Development and Integration team is part of the division MEMS & Micro Devices of Philips Innovation Engineering (IEN).
