Consumer Research Operations Specialist


Do you want to work on the next generation products and digital innovations for Philips Grooming & Beauty as a Consumer Research Operations Specialist? You will be responsible for running the operational side of user research in Research and Development, to ensure the highest standards on safety, quality and compliance.


Your role


In Consumer Research, the key mission is to identify consumer needs, tension areas and to translate, verify and validate these insights throughout the innovation process. This will involve various types of UX and User Research to help us reach this mission. Our activities start with a focus on the support in value proposition definition and feature development, which can include digital enabled development solutions, all the way towards the final product development stage - working towards successful launches and consumer engagement. In this, being consumer centric is key. Linking in with the situation, habits and needs of consumers all around the world helps us in developing products that fulfill the Philips Brand promise “Better care for more people”.


Innovation Site Drachten, part of Research & Development (R&D) of Personal Health, focuses on the development of medical and non-medical lifestyle products in the areas of Grooming & Beauty. The R&D team in Drachten is a hub of innovation and expertise. Our technical experts master the intricacies of our products, ensuring top-tier functionality and innovation.

Project managers and industrialization specialists seamlessly translate ideas into reality, ensuring efficient and high-quality project delivery.

As consumer advocates, we focus on user testing and bring consumer needs to life. It drives the translation of powerful insights into products and services that delight consumers. The influence of the department spans from insight generation and concept development to market launch, serving as the linking pin between R&D and the business. You will work in the Consumer Research & Operations team, closely collaborating with the Research Expertise Team.

For this specific role we are a looking for ‘a mentor’ with experience from the field of medical device. You wil join a highly motivated team and your role will be to take this team to the next level by evaluating current processes and improving them from your background in medical device.


You are responsible for


•   Supporting the Consumer Research team and other functions conducting user research from study initiation to closure.

•   Train and guide Researchers on all safety and compliance aspects of user research

•   Ensure compliance with QMS processes and applicable regulations and standards

•   Coordinate EC submissions for relevant studies

•   In collaboration with Researchers, create and maintain the appropriate study documentation (Trial Master File and Site Regulatory File)

•   Provide support to researchers during audits of study documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date."

•   Create and maintain an overview of all upcoming and active studies, and align with internal partners (e.g. Clinical Operations; Clinical Development) as needed

•   Obtain informed consent from participants and determine eligibility per protocol

•   Stay up to date on developments and changes to central processes and ensure the team continuously conducts research in a compliant manner

•   Champion Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP):by providing training and supporting adherence to these standards."

•   Define and track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the Research Operations and Research Expertise team

•   In collaboration with Consumer Research leads, develop and improve processes and templates to ensure compliance in an efficient manner.

•   Collaborate with other Philips sites globally to ensure we can leverage research capabilities and facilities in other markets, and vice versa.

•   Driving and contributing to improvements on research processes and deliverables. Challenging the status quo and leading continuous improvement initiatives, in order to improve, standardize and document our ways of working in a way that enables timely delivery on business objectives while ensuring compliance with medical device standards.


To succeed in this role, you’ll need a consumer-first mindset and the following


•   A strong drive to put the consumer and study participants first.

•   Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields: Business / Administration, Healthcare, Sciences, Design, Human Factors; Psychology; Behavioral sciences; Sensory Science; Ergonomics; Human Computer Interaction; Engineering and/or skin care, amended with relevant education or experience in consumer research.

•   3+ years experience in User Research or Clinical Research, preferably hands-on experience.

•   Proven track record of compliance with Good Clinical Practice and Good Documentation Practice.

•   Experience with medical devices / ISO 14155

•   Strong understanding of (user and/or clinical) research processes

•   Excellent organizational skills

•   Attention to detail, while being able to see the bigger picture and drive actions with a problem-solving mindset

•   Proficient in Microsoft Office

•   Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Able to think proactively out of the box and in terms of solutions rather than problems.

•   Strong team player with the ability to mentor and guide colleagues, while ensuring adherence to established protocols, procedures, standards and regulations

•   Ability to communicate with study participants in a professional manner, representing the Philips brand

•   Experience with continuous improvement projects

•   Experience with medical devices is a bonus.


Minimum Requirements:


Education

Bachelor's / Master's Degree in (UX) Design, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Computer Science Engineering or equivalent.

Work Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience with Bachelor's in areas such as User Experience (UX) Design, Information Architecture, User Research, Product Design, Usability Testing or equivalent OR no prior experience required with Master's Degree.
