In this role, you will be developing cutting elements for grooming and beauty appliances from initial idea towards mass manufacturing. This will be done within diverse and multidisciplinary development teams.

You are responsible for

Developing cutting elements for male grooming appliances, i.e. shavers, trimmers, clippers, body-groomers and epilators, from initial design concepts to mass production in a multidisciplinary team.

- Creating high quality mechanical designs in both metal or plastics, according to specification and which are mass producible.

- Influencing a multi-disciplinary team of product engineers and developers within projects, e.g. steer a mechanical product development and manage cross functional aspects;

- Managing cutting element requirements, lead DFMEA’s and follow the v-model methodology.

- Releasing complete cutting elements including components and sub-assemblies for mass production.

- Lead ideations sessions, drive concept creation and decision making.

- Proof that the developed construction fulfils the function(s) and requirements under all load cases (via e.g. calculation, simulation, tolerance analysis, prototyping and testing);

- Creating detailed 3D and 2D files incorporating Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly requirements and archiving in C PLM system (Windchill);

- Planning and prioritizing your own work and manage the interfaces with other modules/parts – able to work via agile approach.

- Identifying gaps and implement improvements to bring the cutting element development group to a higher level.

- You safeguard our trusted values regarding functionality, design and simplicity.

You are a part of

The grooming and beauty business sells around 65 million products per year. In a team that bridges the gap between the Innovation & development team and manufacturing. Your team consists of 22 persons. Collaborating in a continuous improvement mindset, challenging each other and this way enables our growth. You’ll be in touch with a broad variety of (international) stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience.

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, with minimum 4 - 5 years of experience in the field of mechanical product development. Knowledge of precision engineering is a plus.

- Experience with working in (international) multi-disciplinary projects, preferably in Business to Consumer

- Familiar with state-of-the-art development techniques and well skilled in 3D CAD

- Knowledge of the design of mechanical constructions in metal and/or plastic and familiar with the manufacturability aspects (process, tools & equipment), analysis (strength, stiffness) and drive mechanisms

- Quality driven - experience with Design for Six Sigma (i.e. being greenbelt certified) is a plus

- Conceptual mindset and the ability to balance innovation and practical realization.

- Ambitious and leadership talent to grow towards roles as senior mechanical developer, function lead developer or product architect.
