FPGA Design Verification Engineer (Contract)


Location: HTC, Eindhoven

Duration Assignment: 12 months (with possible extension and/or Philips transfer in time)

Contract: Permanent at a Randstad company

Hours/week: 40

Budget range: €4.000 - 5.200 per month

In this role, you have the opportunity to accelerate innovation and the creation of first of a kind new healthcare products.

As an FPGA Design Verification Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and verification of FPGA-based hardware solutions. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing test plans, as well as creating and maintaining test benches using Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) and System Verilog. You will work closely with our hardware design and development teams to ensure the quality and reliability of our FPGA products.

You will be responsible for:

Working with a focus on consumer needs and technological competitiveness, having an outside-in approach for the designs you create & the knowledge you share with your team.

  • The design, realisation, integration, and test of systems or subsystems for future Philips products.

  • Drawing up a personal schedule and reporting on progress in a structured and methodical way keeping the costs of the activities in line with the calculated budget & aligning with project leader.

  • Ensuring that there is proper documentation to support the developed code.

  • Designing functionality that is smart in cost and effectiveness by using existing and/or purchased modules into components, which can be integrated into a working system.

  • Contributing to improvement initiatives with regards to technological improvements, our way of working and future-oriented studies


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor or Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, Informatics, Computer Science or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in VHDL and Verilog coding.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in System Verilog for verification.

  • Proven experience with FPGA design and verification using UVM and SystemVerilog.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for FPGA verification.

  • Strong analytical skills in problem solving using system debug and functional simulation test benches.

  • Proficiency in FPGA development tools and environments (Xilinx/Microsemi/Intel).

  • Strong understanding of digital design principles and FPGA architectures.

  • Skilled in using version control, CI/CD pipelines and regression tests frameworks.

  • Experienced in writing specifications and design documentation.

  • Proven track record in cross-functional teams, you are curious, open and feel at home in a dynamic environment.
