Looking at the challenges the world is facing today, Philips’ purpose has never been more relevant. So, whatever your role, if you share our passion for helping others, you’ll be working towards creating a better and fairer future for all.

In the Research & Development department in MRI, you will join a global multidisciplinary team of engineers developing the next generation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems. As an FPGA firmware designer, you will be designing and developing the FPGA firmware for the control and acquisition system of MR products, for hospital and outpatient radiology facilities. Together with other electronic hardware designers (RF, analog, digital and mixed signal), mechanical engineers, system engineering, manufacturing, and service engineers you will take products from concept through design into production to meet our customer’s needs. If you're passionate about healthcare innovation and cutting-edge technology, this is your chance to make a meaningful impact.

Your role

· Gather, define, and write FPGA firmware requirement- and test specifications, based upon higher level requirements, stakeholder input and design specifications.

· Develop FPGA designs from requirements definition, integration, testing and release.

· Define FPGA IO planning and definition, clock- and reset structures, and external interfacing.

· Document development efforts including requirements, specifications, design plans, reviews, test procedures and test reports.

You're the right fit if

· You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or equivalent.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in VHDL and/or Verilog coding, preferably in a (safety) regulated industry such as medical devices, gas appliances, aviation equipment, automotive.

· You have experience with

o FPGA design development cycle. High speed digital / FPGA / CPLD.

o Static code analysis (linting from Mentor)

o Requirement driven functional verification with System Verilog/UVM in Questasim, conducting code coverage analysis. Preferably familiar with HIL (hardware in the loop)

o Implementation of Digital Signal Processing functions (DDS, NCO, DDC, SDR).

o Implementation of System on Chip (SoC) FPGA architectures (using hard and/or soft processors)

o Digital networking/connectivity: high speed serial links, Ethernet, RS232, USB.

o AMD/Xilinx FPGAs, IP blocks and design tools (Vivado).

o Definition and implementation of Hardware-Software Interfaces.

o Version control, CI/CD pipelines, and regression test frameworks.

· You have outstanding communication skills, are highly motivated and a good team player.
