Electrical Designer
As an Electrical Designer at Philips Innovation Engineering (PIE), you will play a crucial role in the design and development of high-end mechatronic equipment used in the medical domain. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with engineers from both Philips and external customers to ensure that advanced medical systems meet the highest standards in precision, safety, and functionality.
This role combines hands-on design and documentation of electrical systems with close collaboration across mechanical, software, and system teams. Your expertise in electrical cabinet design, cabling, and motion control contributes directly to the success of complex mechatronic solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to the electrical architecture of modules and subassemblies
Design and document electrical components such as E-cabinets, cabling, connectors, and interfacing
Translate functional requirements into detailed electrical solutions
Integrate motion control and accurate measurement systems into the design Compliance & Documentation
Ensure designs comply with healthcare standards (e.g., IEC-60601, ISO 13485)
Prepare and maintain high-quality technical documentation for manufacturing, testing, and certification purposes
Adhere to CE, EMC, and UL regulations in all design work
Testing & Collaboration
Support electrical integration and verification activities
Create test specifications and execute tests on cabling and system interfaces
Collaborate closely with system engineers, mechanical designers, and software developers
The Mechatronics & Manufacturing Systems department within Philips Innovation Engineering. This department is responsible for the specification, design, and realization of high-end mechatronic solutions. You’ll join the Mechatronics Engineering & Technologies group, focusing on electrical and software control of equipment. Together, the team supports Philips businesses and external clients in bringing innovations to market efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications and SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
2 to 5 years of experience in a high-tech or regulated environment
Experience with electrical cabinet design, industrial automation, and interfacing
Knowledge of servo technology and motion control systems
Familiarity with EPlan (must-have); Microsoft Visio is a plus
Strong ability to read and design detailed wiring diagrams and field box layouts
Able to write and execute test plans for electrical subsystems
Experience with medical device standards and regulatory frameworks (ISO 13485, IEC-60601, CE/EMC/UL)
Proven team player with strong communication and planning skills
Willingness to travel up to 25% and work at customer sites when needed
