In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

You will join one of our key growth areas as Mother & Child Care Business, known with the brand Philips Avent. You will be part of the R&D organisation in the Netherlands, which encompasses multiple sub-businesses such as Infant Feeding & Comforting, Breast Feeding Solutions and Health Sleep Solution. You will be contributing to the innovation roadmap MLD/PDLM realisation.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and work on Modified Launch Design projects:
    • Update designs, analyse, test and release the product in an existing market;
    • Rolling out existing products to new markets and making sure the product is compliant to this market.
    • Analysing product’s issues in the market (root-cause analysis of both production problems and consumer complaints) and taking corrective actions if required;
    • Defining / executing changes required for new special editions of existing products.
  • Leading on technical issues, problem-solving strategies, and engineering principles.
  • Actively schedule and organise the projects workload and the assignments
  • Define, create, update and maintain the technical product documentation including 3-D models and 2-Ddrawings, BOM structure, Design History Files and Device Master Records in our product PLM system Windchill.
  • Implement Engineering Change Tasks to update and manage the configuration of products and by this maintaining the Technical Product Documentation in our product PLM system Windchill, Implementing change requests into Engineering Change Order (ECO) in PLM.
  • Reviewing changes on Bill of Materials as well as Technical Product Documentation together with Development Engineers, Packaging Engineers, Quality and Product Industrialization Engineers and/or factories.
  • Optimise and update existing product concepts within cross-functional teams including the marketing/sales and manufacturing organisations. Writing compliance RFQ’s for test houses, test design for internal testing and verification reports afterwards.
  • Responsible for making sure that any design change meets the requirements by means of tolerance analysis, material selection, stress and deformation calculations, simulations, validation and verification.
  • Investigating (new) concepts, design new solutions, and realise prototypes using the latest design techniques and process technologies to ultimately release a safe, and performing product to the market. Perform and investigate technical issues, problem solving strategies, and engineering principles.


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechatronic Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant engineering/working experience in engineering / product development domain, minimum 3-5 years’ experience with technical product data management (Bill of material, drawings).
  • Track record of developing consumer related products from concept development to market launch with key involvement in the industrialization phase
  • Capable of executing tolerance calculations through multiple components. Proof of statistical engineering experience and design for reliability, Knowledgeable with Minitab and Design for Six Sigma methodology.
  • In depth knowledge of manufacturing and assembling techniques for thermoplastics, elastomers and rubbers. Experience with injection-moulded plastic & elastomeric parts design for mass production.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CAD (PTC Creo), preferably familiar with (complex) surface modelling. Understanding of design for human factors and ergonomics
  • Experience in writing product development-related technical documentation (e.g. test plan, test reports, technical risk analysis, etc.)
  • Capable to challenge tool makers, moulders, assembly suppliers on their technical proposals
  • Experience with Windchill and Configuration and Change Management
  • Composure, conflict management, timely decision making, listening skills, self-motivation, and perseverance are all requirements of this position. Must be able to thrive in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
  • Because you will work with factories, suppliers and innovation teams across the globe, strong communication skills are required. Fluent in English, both written and oral.
