Senior Maintenance Engineer Philips MEMS Foundry (Contract)

Location: Eindhoven, the Netherlands

Duration Assignment: 12 months (with possible extension in the form of a permanent contract)

Contract: via a Randstad company

Hours/week: 40

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Be a vital contributor to Philips MEMS Foundry, ensuring the high availability of high-tech manufacturing equipment used in innovative applications, such as sensors in smartphones, IoT devices, and biomedical innovations. You will plan, schedule, and execute both corrective and preventive maintenance activities across a broad range of equipment.


You will be responsible for:

  • Taking ownership of high-tech semiconductor process equipment in the MEMS Foundry, ensuring uptime and driving Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).

  • Systematically monitoring and planning preventive maintenance for equipment such as PVD, PECVD, Dry Etch, and Lithography tools.

  • Using tools and methods for engineering and repair activities, and being responsible for maintenance documentation and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborating closely with equipment owners and technicians to ensure well-planned and executed maintenance, while performing root cause analysis and project management for small tool modifications.

  • Writing technical specifications for new or modified equipment, designing and executing technical acceptance tests (IQ, OQ), and determining spare part policies.

  • Maintaining compliance with ESH (Environmental, Safety, and Health) policies and enforcing compliance on equipment-related issues.

  • Leading or participating in Kaizen improvement teams and crash teams for complex machine or process failures.


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor/University degree in a technical field relevant to the industry (e.g., electronics, mechatronics, physics, chemical engineering).

  • Several years of experience as a maintenance engineer in a production or service environment, preferably with experience in MEMS or semiconductor manufacturing.

  • Strong skills in reading electrical and mechanical drawings, and basic knowledge of computer control systems, PLCs, and networks.

  • Willingness to work in a clean-room environment and handle occasional emergency situations outside regular hours.
