About the role
As a Senior Design Technologist you specialize in front-end development. Your role is part strategic and part pragmatist while being a hands-on consultant, producer, and organizer of technical insights, experiments, proof of concepts, and models. You bridge the gap between experience design and software architecture and development as part of the successful delivery of innovative solutions.

We are looking for a Senior Design Technologist with strong interests and capabilities in the development of engaging user experiences. The ideal candidate will thrive in a global work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication. It is essential to have a mindset of building fast, testing and iterating by combining user, business and technical requirements. This individual excels at providing both highly analytical as well as highly creative way of thinking to a design engagement from a broader perspective.

You will be charged with inspiring and growing staff surrounding creative technology, and sharing your knowledge across the large digital design community. You are a creative coder with a good understanding of technology trends and technology architectures, and has the drive to support building and expanding this competence within Philips Experience Design. On a daily basis, you will be working in a team responsible for designing and developing components and platforms.

You are responsible to
Drive platform research and experimentation, concept exploration, prototyping, and ideation within the creative process for designing user experiences in software and services making the most of available technology
Establish yourself as a subject matter expert for performant, high-fidelity UI in OpenGL, WebGL, and DirectX
Collaborate closely with designers to express UX in the form of user experience simulations, interactive prototypes, technical proof-of-concepts, and production quality components
Provide relevant subject matter expertise across domains in the form of UI/presentation layer software architecture recommendations, best practices, and design integration support to help ensure the intended user experience is successfully realized in delivery and deployment

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

• Minimum of 5# years of experience building digital solutions (components, platforms, design systems)Bachelor/Master's
• Degree in Design, HCI, or Computer Science
• Expert level of core rendering technologies:
• Web Standards (HTML5, CSS3 [transitions, animations, behaviors])
• DirectX (C##)
• OpenGL and WebGLSolid proficiency with:
• Web frontend stack (standards and popular frameworks)Design language systems
• Ability to write high-performance, reusable front-end code
• Experience with design tools such as Sketch or Framer (etc)

Proven experience with:

• Software engineering principles, frameworks and technologies
• Empathy for the end user
• Explaining design rationale to technical and business stakeholders
• Good eye for details and comfortable taking design decision on the go
