Description:

As a Mechanical Engineer Materials, you will play a key role in material knowledge to develop and improve Philips product solutions that improve billions of lives around the world.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize Together with the team maintain and operate all resources necessary for the metallography and materials testing labs.

  • Intake Process all requests from customers regarding analyses, investigations and consultancies for the materials lab.

  • Research Define and prepare product and material samples from project teams for investigations or testing. Scouting for new or alternative metal-material options for product design. Root cause analysis in case of material failures in products during development or coming back from the market. Define, set up and execute experiments to map causes of deviation and failure.

  • Simulate Develop, improve material models for process simulations in collaboration withinternal expert groups.

  • Design Write functional specifications of all equipment and tooling necessary for test setups. This will be used as an input for the supply chain to industrialize such a process. In this (specific) function the emphasis will lay in the field of metallography, materials testing and process design.

  • Advice Communicate and explain the research results to internal Philips customers. To perform these tasks, you will be part of a team of metal and metallography experts and have access to a fully utilized lab equipped with furnaces, light and electron microscopy and material test and measurement equipment.



Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A masters degree in the area of material science (preferably with acquaintance in Stainless Steels).

  • Experience: Preferably starters on the labor market, but applicants with some years of experience in a material lab are also invited to react.

  • Technical Skills: Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of material science.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, a creative mindset, proactivity and the ability to work collaboratively (as team player) in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills are required to effectively present ideas and influence stakeholders.

  • Passion for Innovation: A genuine interest in creating products that enhance consumer experience and a drive to push the boundaries of what is possible with material science in a Philips product.

Additional Information:

  • Hybrid Work: Minimum 3-4 days per week onsite in Drachten.
