Philips
Manufacturing Engineer Imagining Components
As a Manufacturing Engineer you are responsible for supporting, improving and maintaining the production processes within the Manufacturing Department Factory Best. In this role you combine a strong understanding of equipment and processes with a clear interest in software-driven improvements. You use data and engineering tooling (e.g., Python and SQL) to strengthen troubleshooting, traceability and decision-making—close to the machines and aligned with the overarching MES environment.
Key activities
· Drive stable production performance: troubleshoot issues on the shopfloor and minimize disturbances (maximize yield) in close cooperation with team leads, troubleshooters and development.
· Translate machine and process behaviour into improvements: use production/test/process data to identify root causes and implement structural solutions.
· Develop and maintain engineering tooling & reporting: contribute to reusable scripts/queries (Python/SQL) that support consistent analysis and improvements, including within the overarching MES environment.
· Provide structural solutions by initiating amendments like problem reports (PR) and/or 8D forms (problem solving methodology).
· Support & execute Process Validation, ensuring evidence and traceability are complete and repeatable.
· Implement changes in manufacturing: preparation and introduction of product changes through Life Cycle Management and Modify Launched Design within the manufacturing processes.
· Ensure business continuity: replace/upgrade business critical equipment and processes where needed.
· Standardize and document: write work instructions, monitor/maintain devices and tooling, instruct employees, implement and maintain production processes.
· Participate as an expert in audits, providing clear technical input and ensuring readiness of documentation and data.
Other activities
· CAPA support.
· Lead escalations regarding production issues/complaints, if needed together with development and other stakeholders.
· Support New Product Introductions (NPI), including: providing/maintaining input for NPI project planning, preparation activities for trial/prototype production within NPI processes.
· DEFOA / MOA root cause analysis; create and implement structural solutions.
· Provide input for Product Industrialization Engineering to improve ways of working; after release for volume production the Manufacturing Engineer is accountable for improvements.
· Analyze performance data with respect to products and processes (Six Sigma / Statistical Process Control).
· Define and lead improvement projects for the assigned unit to improve efficiency, product quality and test section (Green Belt).
You are part of Factory Best, one of the largest Medical Manufacturing Sites in Health Systems. You are part of Manufacturing Engineering, a team responsible for processes within: IGT, MR, DXR, SP&R, Imaging Components, RS and FAL. You will be working closely with operations, quality and development.
Requirements
· BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (preferred). Other relevant backgrounds are also possible (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Electronics, Applied Physics), as long as you have strong affinity with equipment and production processes.
· Hands-on mentality; strong in documentation and accuracy.
· Independent, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership, including stakeholder management.
· Result & quality driven approach; able to structure problems and drive closure.
· Affinity with software-driven engineering: comfortable working with data, automation and tooling; Python and SQL are a strong plus (used for analysis/reporting and supporting the overarching MES landscape).
· 2 years of experience within Manufacturing or Engineering in a high-tech environment.
· Basic experience with OT (Operational Technology) and IT (Information Technology).
· Strong comprehension skills; able to analyze, summarize and communicate clearly.
· Experience with quality systems; preferably in regulated environments (ISO 9001/13485, FDA, audits, FMEA, 8D, SPC, etc.).
· Personal & communication skills (Dutch & English); communication with operators up to developers & management.
· Nice to have: DMAIC Six Sigma Green Belt.
· Nice to have: experience with SAP (MES) and Windchill.
