You are responsible for


  • Leading the Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Supply Chain activities in the MEMS Foundry to world-class operational excellence;

  • Hiring, supervising, developing, coaching, and evaluating MEMS Foundry personnel;

  • Delivering products on time with high quality and yield;

  • Optimizing production processes with respect to routing, supplies, equipment capacity and human resource levels;

  • Managing the cost and expenditures related to Operations in line with approved budgets;

  • Preparing multi-year manufacturing operation and investment plans to lead the manufacturing organization to the highest level of operational performance;

  • Leading the development and continuous improvement of the way of working, the manufacturing processing methods and the equipment availability;

  • Contributing to the implementation and operation of effective Supply Chain and IT processes and systems for MEMS & Micro Devices;

  • Driving activities related to sustain and improve safety and to maintain commitment to environmental and quality regulations.



You are part of


The Director Operations reports to the Head of MEMS & Micro Devices, in Philips Engineering Solutions. You will be a management team member of MEMS & Micro Devices. Your direct reports include the managers that are responsible for the groups Process Engineering & Maintenance MEMS, Operations MEMS, Supply Chain Management and IT. This includes about 65 direct and indirect reports.



To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a technical discipline relevant to the industry (physics, materials science, chemical engineering, electronics);

  • Experience as Operations Director/Manager, preferably experience as manager of managers;

  • Many years of experience within the MEMS or semiconductor industry, in operations, manufacturing and/or engineering functions;

  • Knowledge of common IT and Supply Chain Management systems in the Semicon or MEMS industry;

  • Proven experience with and knowledge of structural improvement methodologies (DMAIC, DfSS);

  • Knowledge of and experience with LEAN manufacturing;

  • Knowledge of ISO standards ISO9001, ISO13485 and work according to the Quality Management System;

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, at different levels in the organization;

  • Good interpersonal skills and team player;

  • Drive and initiative to make a positive impact in the organization;

  • Experience with change management in a manufacturing organization;

  • Strong customer focus.
