Firmware Designer
Introduction

In the MRI Research & Development department, we are building the next generation of imaging systems to support better diagnostics and treatment outcomes. We are currently seeking a Firmware Designer to develop FPGA-based control and acquisition systems for our MRI platforms.

Your Challenge
As a Firmware Designer, you will:
Gather, define, and write FPGA firmware requirements and test specifications
Design, develop, and test FPGA firmware for MRI control and acquisition systems
Define IO planning, clock/reset structures, and external interfaces
Document development phases, including design plans, verification, and release documentation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the full product lifecycle
Your Profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or similar
At least 5 years of hands-on experience with VHDL and/or Verilog in a regulated industry (medical, automotive, aerospace, etc.)
Experience with:
FPGA development cycles and high-speed digital design
AMD/Xilinx FPGAs and Vivado toolchain
System on Chip (SoC) FPGA architectures
Digital signal processing (DDS, NCO, DDC, SDR)
Functional verification (SystemVerilog/UVM in Questasim), including code coverage
HIL (Hardware-in-the-loop) simulation
Interfaces and protocols: Ethernet, RS232, USB, high-speed serial links
HW-SW interface design
Static code analysis, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and regression testing
Soft Skills
Strong communication and documentation skills
Highly motivated, quality-oriented, and collaborative
Comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment

Practical Details
Location: Eindhoven, hybrid model (min. 3 days onsite)
Contract: You will work for Philips as a contractor via Randstad (Yacht)
