Role: System Architect - Mechatronics and Motion Control Software

Contract: Via Randstad Company

We seek a seasoned Systems Architect with a strong background in mechatronics and motion control software design to lead our Machine Control Software division at Philips Innovation Engineering. In this role, you'll spearhead the architecture, design, and integration of software and electrical components for high-precision medical equipment used in testing and production. Working within a dynamic team environment, your primary focus will be on advanced machine control, precise measurements, and electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance in complex mechatronic devices.

Responsibilities:

  • Architecting complete production lines or machines, with a keen eye on manufacturing efficiency, scalability, and adaptability.

  • Structuring work processes to meet evolving customer needs and maintain technological competitiveness, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement through feedback loops.

  • Providing comprehensive input to project leaders, commercial departments, and management to facilitate informed decision-making.

  • Defining a robust software architecture strategy that balances long- and short-term objectives, and proactively addresses potential conflicts in requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software developers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.

  • Establishing clear definitions for system components and interfaces to ensure seamless integration and efficient deployment, while maintaining adherence to high-level functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechatronics, motion control technologies, and PLC/Twincat platforms to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • Proven experience (more than 10 years) in designing architectures for manufacturing process automation or test equipment development or machine building or motion control systems with at least 3-4 years of experience as a Systems Architect.

  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with PLC beckhoff and Twincat platforms.

  • Strong understanding of mechatronics principles and their application in system design.

  • Proficiency in system modeling, simulation, and analysis tools.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% while working at customer locations.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
