Philips invites you to apply as a Privacy Legal Counsel within Philips’ Legal Function. Philips' Legal Function spans a global network of some 170 professionals operating as one integrated, internal law firm for Philips' businesses worldwide, advising on all legal matters relevant to Philips’ business.
Philips is looking for a Privacy Legal Counsel for the Legal team within Philips’ Global Privacy Function, based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Global Privacy Function is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of Philips’ privacy compliance program which is based on the Philips Binding Corporate Rules and local privacy legislation.
Your responsibilities
You will support the Global Privacy Office with privacy legal advice and act as a business partner to the various businesses and functions within Philips, advising on legal privacy matters, often in teamwork settings.
Your work will involve:
•  Working with customers, prospective customers, and partners on privacy-related questions about using Philips services or products, thereby aligning on business priorities;
•  Partnering with the commercial and procurement legal team in customer negotiations, including supporting the drafting and negotiation of privacy related agreements;
•  To be a sound expert on privacy and data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation, NIS Directive and E- privacy Regulation;
•  Partnering with key Philips Functions such as security, research, marketing and the HR team, other stakeholders and outside counsel to help ensure Philips compliance with laws, regulations and customer contracts;
•  Understanding and maintaining internal privacy policies and procedures, thereby shaping Philips internal privacy program;
•  Assisting in developing training materials and providing training to employees and customers on privacy-related obligations;
•  Working with Philips government affairs office to help influencing privacy and data protection laws;
•  Handling privacy complaints or data access requests and management of data protection incidents and events.
Your team
Within the Global Privacy Function, you will be reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. You will be working closely together with the other privacy legal counsels, privacy officers, as well as with other in-house Philips lawyers, Philips’ business partners and outside counsels.

We are looking for:
•  An experienced and fully qualified Legal Counsel with 6+ years’ experience in private practice or as in-house legal counsel in the field of privacy;
•  A creative and flexible lawyer with an international orientation and with an affinity for innovation and technology;
•  Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills. Fluency in English and preferably one other language;
•  Strong experience leading and delivering on complex privacy compliance program development and deployment;
•  Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude;
•  Strong experience with data processing agreements negotiations;
•  Team spirit and collaborative attitude;
•   Ability to organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and challenging work environment;
•  Ability to handle complex escalations and effectively working with cross functional teams;
•  Ability to connect with people and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients;
•  Ability to deal with a high workload and determined to achieve high-quality business results;
•  Sound and practical business judgement and ability to take bold decisions under tight deadlines.

Possibility to work from both Amsterdam and Eindhoven
Minumum 32 hours per week, preferrably 40 hours
