Are you ready to build the robust foundation for the future of image-guided healthcare?

At Philips Image Guided Therapy (IGT) Systems, we are developing industry-leading solutions that help clinicians decide, guide, treat, and confirm the right therapy for every patient. We are looking for a highly skilled Platform Engineer with a deep expertise in Cloud & Edge computing to design and maintain the infrastructure that powers our next-generation Azurion platform.

The Role

In this role, you will architect the cloud native infrastructure that hosts clinical applications. As a member of the Platform Engineering team, you provide the essential foundation—ensuring that our cloud-native and edge-enabled clinical applications are scalable, observable, and secure.

Your Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Design: Design, build, and maintain a robust cloud-native infrastructure with an initial, heavy focus on Edge computing environments.

  • Platform Development: Develop and maintain core platform components and microservice Proof of Concepts (PoCs) using Golang.

  • Advanced Orchestration: Manage containerized services using Kubernetes at an advanced level, including the development of Operators and Custom Resources (CRDs).

  • Linux & Security: Apply deep knowledge of Linux internals to optimize the platform and ensure all environments meet strict medical security and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).

  • Observability & IaC: Implement comprehensive monitoring and observability solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and manage infrastructure via code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible).

  • Lifecycle Integration: Contribute to both early-stage prototyping (Advanced Development) and formal productization (PDLM) to ensure a seamless transition from concept to clinical use.

Note on Scope: Your focus is on the platform layer. While you will develop microservices for platform functionality and PoCs, you will not typically develop the end-user clinical microservices; instead, you empower application teams to build on your foundation.

Your Profile

You are a proactive innovator who thrives in a mission-driven, multidisciplinary R&D environment.

  • Education: Bachelor, Master or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Development Skills: Strong programming experience in Golang and a deep understanding of cloud-native architectures.

  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Kubernetes, containerization (Docker), and Linux internals beyond common abstractions.

  • Cloud/Edge Experience: Several years of experience in cloud development (Azure, AWS, or GCP) with a specific interest in setting up and maintaining Edge environments.

  • Understand secure and compliant architectures for both cloud and edge (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).
