SME Engineer (Freelance)
We are looking for Engineers at the NPI Metal Forming (New Product Introduction) organization, which is the interface between manufacturing and innovation department. The NPI Metal Forming department is responsible for the industrialization of metal parts for the production of shaving heads for the Philips Shavers.
Your challenge
Implementing robust sustainable processes and equipment by applying Standard Work Industrialization and DFSS result in fast & smooth product launches to enable the best products and solution for the customer and stay competitive as a factory. The Engineer is part of a project team and fulfills the activities which are defined in the project team. (Technical content). Part of the job will be performed at the Gemba where technical, mechanical skills are needed to improve and ramp up new processes and machines.
Your Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities as SME engineer are:
- Actively studying and informing about trends and new technologies of own technology area
- Specify and outsource process, tools and equipment.
- Review activities of suppliers. Implementation and provide aftercare.
- Define project plan for own activities. Define well considered concept choices.
- Use actively risk management tools.
- Apply and improve standard SWI procedures, supplier base management tools and methods. Develop and use of DFSS improvement tools. Support engineers regarding to tools and methods. Apply lean manufacturing principles.
- Apply and improve knowledge- and competence management for own activities.

Philips Drachten develops and produces product for several businesses like male grooming, Oral health Care and Mother and Child Care.
You will be working at the SME Metal Forming (Site Manufacturing Engineering) organization, which is the interface between manufacturing and innovation department.
The SME Metal Forming department is responsible for the industrialization of metal parts for the production of shaving heads for the Philips Shavers.
These industrializations uses high advanced production processes and is characterized as dynamic and innovative.
