Senior FPGA Design Engineer (Contract)


Location: HTC, Eindhoven

Duration Assignment: 12 months (with possible extension and/or Philips transfer in time)

Contract: Permanent at a Randstad company

Hours/week: 40

Budget range: €4.000 - 5.200 per month

The Senior FPGA Design Engineer at Philips Electronic Systems & IoT within Product and Systems Engineering is a pivotal role, ensuring the continued excellence and innovation in FPGA designs crucial for businesses like MRI, HPM, and IGT. Responsible for designing, implementing, and testing FPGA solutions tailored to customer needs, this engineer plays a central role in maintaining expertise in FPGA technology within the organization. With a focus on meeting quality standards, adhering to schedules, and fostering effective communication, the engineer collaborates globally to deliver cutting-edge solutions that drive innovation in healthcare products. Qualified candidates bring extensive experience in VHDL and/or Verilog coding, proficiency with FPGA vendors and tools, and a proven track record in high-speed design implementation. The position demands a collaborative spirit, a drive for continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

You will be responsible for:

Working with a focus on consumer needs and technological competitiveness, having an outside-in approach for the designs you create & the knowledge you share with your team.


  • Designing, implementing, and testing FPGA designs to meet customer needs

  • Participating in all stages of development from requirements definition to release

  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards and proper documentation

  • Reporting progress in a structured manner


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, informatics, or equivalent

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in VHDL and/or Verilog coding

  • Experience with major FPGA vendors and their tools

  • Proven track record in implementing high-speed designs and interfaces

  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and debugging

  • Proficiency in version control, CI/CD pipelines, and regression test frameworks

  • Ability to write specifications and design documentation

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams
