Plastics & Materials Product Development Engineer (Freelance)
As a Sr. Plastics & Materials Product Development Engineer, of the MRI R&D Hardware group Patient Centric Subsystems, you are designing and developing hardware of MR products for hospitals. Together with a HW Architect and the Systems Engineering department, you will take products from concept through design into production using DfX (FMEA,DFMA etc) approaches to meet the needs of our customers and their demanding environment.
Your daily work.
In this role as Sr. Plastics & Materials Product Development Engineer you are responsible for the design, realization (schematics, drawings and documents), integration and test of sub-systems, components or modules on the basis of design specifications in accordance with the functional specifications. As we do not want to harm people with our MR systems, which can be very dangerous when malfunctioning, so predictability, reliability and traceability of our design is essential. Thus, documentation and the documentation process play an important role in our development.

You have a Masters (WO) Degree or equivalent through experience in mechanical engineering. You have lead engineer skills and experience in the process to release components for production in a medical or other highly regulated environment
Some keywords:
- Designing, conceptualizing products and devices.
- Plastics, reinforced plastics, foam, hoses, injection moulding, moldflow, manufacturing techniques like SMC, blow-moulding.
- Supplier knowledge and experience in collaboration (co-development) with supplier are a must as well.
- Next to this CREO experience is a big plus, but CAD experience is a necessity.
- Leadership, planning for commitments, open communication with leadership and other department leaders, process-creativity, negotiation skills, get-things-done mentality are necessary to get your project or projects done efficient and faster than the original timeline.
