PCBA Layout Engineer

About the Role

Philips is looking for a PCBA Layout Engineer to contribute to the design and development of innovative medical products. In this role, you will apply your expertise in electronic design engineering and PCBA layout technology to support PCB and PCBA development across Philips globally.

You will work closely with engineering teams across Philips Innovation Centers and contribute to both the migration of legacy PCBAs and the design of new boards using the Mentor Graphics Xpedition Enterprise platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Migrate legacy PCB designs and develop new PCBAs using the Mentor Graphics Xpedition Enterprise platform.

  • Create complete electronic design packages, including schematics, PCB layouts, Technical Product Documentation (TPD), and related design data.

  • Ensure data integrity and consistency between schematic diagrams and PCB layout files.

  • Work closely with circuit/functional designers and mechanical designers to address electrical, mechanical, and physical design constraints.

  • Organize and participate in design review meetings and ensure design decisions are appropriately documented.

  • Collaborate with CAD-E Library Engineers to ensure the availability and accuracy of required electronic components and library elements.

  • Work closely with design engineers and customers to understand requirements and resolve design-related issues.

  • Apply development procedures, design guidelines, and industry standards to ensure reliable and high-quality product designs.

  • Implement signal integrity and power integrity requirements as part of the PCB design process.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable product safety, regulatory, and industry-specific requirements.

  • Prepare technical documentation and manufacturing data required by PCB/PCBA suppliers.

  • Support continuous improvement of PCB/PCBA design processes, methodologies, and standards.

You're the Right Fit If
  • Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 4–5 years of hands-on experience in PCBA physical design, including design constraint definition, component placement, routing, panel design, and technical product documentation.

  • 4–5 years of hands-on experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition Enterprise is mandatory.

  • Good knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical components and their application in PCB design.

  • Experience with Valor NPI, CAM350, or similar PCB manufacturing/DFM tools is preferred.

  • Experience with Mentor EDM is an added advantage.

  • Good understanding of industry regulations and standards such as RoHS, REACH, and IPC.

  • Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, electrical design constraints, and PCB manufacturing requirements is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to design challenges.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with global and cross-functional teams.

  • Proactive, decisive, and entrepreneurial mindset with a strong can-do attitude.
