Are you passionate about applying electronic components in real products—not just selecting them, but understanding how they perform across design, manufacturing, and lifecycle? As a PCBA Component Engineer, you strengthen Philips’ global component engineering capability by enabling engineering teams to make robust, compliant, and future-proof component choices. You combine strong component application knowledge with a data-driven way of working, leveraging automation and AI tools to improve quality, efficiency, and scalability. You are part of a dedicated PCBA competence team within Electronic Design Services (EDS), working closely with Philips businesses worldwide.

You act as the component engineering expert across organizational boundaries, contributing to a shared design responsibility model and enabling balanced decisions across functionality, lifecycle, manufacturability, and supply robustness.
Your responsibilities
Support engineering teams in selection and application of electronic components
Translate functional and system requirements into robust component choices
Advise on alternatives, substitutes, second sources, and design trade-offs
Provide insight into specifications, reliability, and application constraints
Support NPI and Lifecycle Management (LCM) projects - Perform BOM analysis (EOL, availability, compliance risks)
Ensure compliance with RoHS, REACH and export control regulations
Apply knowledge of export control and international sanctions frameworks (e.g. EAR, ITAR, EU Dual-Use, OFAC) to support compliant component selection
Develop and apply multi-sourcing strategies to ensure product readiness, supply resilience, and global market access
Contribute to root cause analysis for component-related issues
Ensure high-quality, structured component data in PLM systems (e.g. Windchill)
Work extensively with Excel for analysis, validation, and data structuring
Process and transform data across tools and formats
Automate repetitive engineering tasks using Python or similar scripting
Drive improvements in data consistency, reuse, and scalability
Actively use AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Kairos, Claude in daily work
Apply AI to accelerate data analysis and workflows, support decisions, and automate reporting
We are looking for
BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Hands-on use of AI tools (required)
Strong knowledge of electronic components and their application
Knowledge of derating in electronic design
Experience with BOM management and lifecycle processes
Strong Excel skills
Practical experience with Python or scripting
Experience with PLM systems (e.g. Windchill)
Knowledge of PCBA design and manufacturing processes
Knowledge of RoHS, REACH and export control
Knowledge of export control and international sanctions regulations (e.g. EAR, ITAR, EU Dual-Use, OFAC), with the ability to translate regulatory constraints into component selection decisions and multi-sourcing strategies
Experience with multi-sourcing strategies
Fluent in English
